Our Ballerina

Aquarium

Happy Birthday, Peter!!!

Tomorrow is Peter's birthday. Happy Birthday, Boo! Tomorrow the girls are going to Vacherie to spend a few days with Momma Lady and Grandpa since B is on vacation for a week. I'm going to miss them, but Peter and I are psyched about having a few nights to ourselves! Thanks in advance to Momma Lady and Grandpa.

I always feel guilty for not keeping up with the blog, but on weeknights I am awake for aboutan hour after we put the girls down. I want to do better...

A big thank you to Attie for watching the girls a couple of weeks ago when Ida caused the schools to close for the day. I know it was rough!

I was lucky enough to be off on Veteran's Day and I took B for her follow up appointment with Dr. Warren. He said that everything looked good so she'll probably get the hardware taken out next fall. It's going to be a quick and easy procedure. She'll have the surgery on a Friday and be back to school on Monday. I thought it was going to be more involved than that so I am relieved. Before her appointment B and I had lunch at Slice. I can't remember the last time she and I went to a restaurant just the two of us; it was fun to spend time with my favorite three year old.

Last weekend we went to the Aquarium and to Maspero's with the Nichols family. The girls were so excited to see their cousins. The night before we went B told me that Charlie was "so cute" and "so special." She also recently told my sisters that she hoped that one day when Charlie got bigger he could be her big brother. Sadie and Patrick liked staring at each other and Patrick called Sadie "baby" all day.

This morning B had an Open Studio at her ballet school. She did so well and was quite the ham! I was so proud. It was a gray, rainy day--the perfect day to hang out in the playroom. In the afternoon B and I went to Jonah's first birthday party. He was adorable and the cake was delish! Sadie couldn't go because she wasn't feeling well. I took her to see Uncle Tommy yesterday for her 18 month check up, and we found out she had an ear infection. My girls have had runny noses for months. Sadie's last ear infection was less than a month ago. Everyone says they'll have awesome immune systems later. We'll see.

Sadie loves to say the following: deah (yes), NO (used to be nuh), cheese, hug (then she gives a hug), beddy button (my girl loves her navel), and we've taught her to say "Who Dat!"

B's art projects and the songs she learns at school are amazing. I recorded her singing "The Month of November"--adorable. Both girls are picky eaters these days, and it seems like anytime I cook anything for her she wants "sumpin' else." When she doesn't want to do something she says, "Stop it, stop it, stop it!!!"

I'm going to post more pics soon.

What's Been Up

We had a great Halloween. Betsy was very into it and so were the babies. Betsy was a beautiful witch, and Sadie and Lawson were ladybugs. Thanks so much to Katie and Attie for making the costumes--too cute! We had Marme's vegetable soup at the Carvilles before trick or treating. The Carville house looked amazing! After the trick or treating the girls dug through their goodies and the babies had their first candy bars. They were huge fans of chocolate bars!

I ended up getting sick again. Boo! I missed two days of work. I'm feeling a lot better so hopefully we'll be illness-free for at least a little while. B has been having pain at her surgery site so Attie brought her to Dr. Warren's office. Everything was fine, but we're going back next week. The whole thing just scared me. It might be time to take the hardware out. On Saturday B spiked a high fever, and as her fever climbed to 102.7 I was terrified that it had something to do with her leg. I was assured by Uncle Tommy and Dr. Warren's office that it was OK. She woke up today fine.

On Friday we visited with Marme then went to dinner at Nacho Mama's with Gumbo, Bee, and the Carvilles. B wasn't herself so we had a feeling she'd wake up sick on Saturday. At first we stayed in yesterday, but it was so nice outside so we decided to walk around the neighborhood. Days like yesterday make me really appreciate living uptown. First, we walked to the Poydras Home Art Show then we ran into the Blesseys and the Carvilles. We continued our walk and went to Swamp Fest at the Zoo. Sadie slept the whole time. B had an icee and eventually her fever went down. On the way home we stopped at Bee Sweet and picked up cupcakes then picked up po-boys from Guy's. I loved not having to get in the car all day.

This morning I got a lot of Christmas shopping done. Target's "Christmasland" (as the sisters and I call it) is in full swing, and it really put me in the holiday spirit. We watched the Saints game--another exciting game and win!

Tonight B tried Egg Nog for the first time. She said, "Ooooh, it smells like a milkshake." Then she tasted it and said, "It tastes like Gatorade." Ok... B sang a song to me to the tune of "Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah." It went something like this, "I don't want to go potty, I don't want to go po-o-otty, I don't want to go to da pottyyyyyyyyyyyy, because I don't want to go."

Sadie's manners are so impressive. She is a "please" machine. Today she also said her first sentence--kind of gross and she'll love to read about this when she's older. She came up to me and said, "I poo poo."

Here's hoping that Ida stays far away.

Pics later....

Halloween Cookie Decorating Party

Josie's Party

Josie's third birthday party was so much fun. There was a face painting clown there so Betsy was in heaven. B loved playing with her pals.

Family Fun

Here are some pics from the Magazine Street Blues Festival. The babies danced and ate lots of gelato. Betsy slept through the whole thing. She and Peter had gone to the ASH Father-Daughter Breakfast and she played very hard.

Isn't this a great pic of Katie, Peter A, and Bets?
