Merry (Late) Christmas!

We had a wonderful Christmas! I hope everyone else did too. By Christmas Eve we were all feeling better. We went to Vacherie and had a yummy lunch and Momma Lady and Grandpa's house then went to Grandma Agnes' party. The girls received lots of wonderful gifts, and had so much fun with all of the family. Betsy woke up at 6 a.m. on Christmas morning so she opened her stocking and saw her gifts from Santa all by herself. Sadie Boo didn't wake up until almost 8. Betsy was so excited about all of her presents. We went to breakfast at Marme's, and the girls and Lawsy had a ball playing with their presents from Marme. After breakfast we went to Jama and Pa's for lunch and present opening. Lunch was delicious as always and we had a great time. Next we went to dinner at Marme's. By the end of the night we were stuffed, exhausted, and happy.

On Friday and Saturday we recovered from the Christmas madness and tried to find places for all of the girls' new loot. On Saturday we ate lunch at Zea, and S sat in a restaurant highchair for the first time. She was so good, and stared at the lady at the table next to us the whole time and didn't make a peep. The lady thought it was funny, and offered to accompany us to dinner (as long as we treated)at anytime so S would be entertained. B was good too. I should have known at that time that they would act up while P was at a work function Saturday night. Yesterday we met some of the playgroupers at the Parenting Center. B had fun playing with her pals. We met up with Michelle and her boys at Daneel Park for a quick visit in the afternoon. Last night Marme came over for dinner, and B went to dinner at Jama and Pa's. Today we went to Krista's house then to Target, home for B's nap then Jama and Pa's for dinner. B performed the whole time, and S was so good. Jama and Pa are doing well. Yay!

The Carvilles were out of town from Saturday till today. We'll see them tomorrow--so glad because we missed them a bunch!

Sadie is doing lots of new tricks--waving, clapping, pulling herself up (once), almost crawling, rocking, and doing push ups of sorts.

Betsy is saying funny things all the time. She thinks that if she prefaces a request with "please" she will get whatever she wants. After Peter left on Saturday night B said, "Daddy looked very handsome tonight, very much like a prince." B likes to say, "come on, mommy" when I don't do what she wants me to do. If she leaves the room she says, "I'll be back in just a minute." B takes her doll, puts her in her stroller then goes to PJ's and brings back coffee and muffins for Peter and me. She also takes her dolls to Walgreens a lot; she LOVES Walgreens, and begs me to go there a lot. Yesterday at lunch I handed B a piece of bread across the table and she said, "Momma, you have a good reach!" She can recite the first several lines of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Christmas Is Coming...

I'm hoping the girls and I are better soon. It was rough this weekend. Peter is the only one who isn't sick. Everyone is asleep and I just took some Sudafed. I hope everyone sleeps through the night!!!

My sisters and I spent the weekend having quality time with Jama, Pa, Gumbo, Taddy, Diane, Bobby, Tommy, Calli, Thomas Ross, and Philip. I loved being with everyone so much.

Today Sam watched the girls while Attie and I did some last minute shopping then this afternoon Marme and the sisters and Lawsy came over for our 2nd annual cookie decorating party. Betsy ate lots of icing and the babies seemed to be envious. Mrs. Garcia, our neighbor, came by and gave the girls a bunch of wonderful presents she is too sweet. B hasn't put down the baby doll she gave her.

I can't believe Christmas is just 3 days away!

Big P.S.

My Sadie Boo said Mama yesterday. She actually said, "Mamamamamamamma!" Now we need to work on getting her to say Dada.

Roundup

Sorry I haven't blogged. Both girls have been sick, and now I am sick too. B and I are both on antibiotics. B has a terrible ear infection, cough, and runny nose. Baby Sadie has the cough and nose part; hopefully she won't get the ear infection too. Here's a quick roundup of what's been up. Last week we loved the snow. This week we're hating the hot weather. Last weekend we had the Gatti family party and then P's boss's party. This week has been all about no sleeping, and lots and lots of crying. Last night we had a yummy dinner at Bee's with the Babin crew, including Uncle Bobby who is in town from Australia for Christmas. We were supposed to go to Celebration in the Oaks tonight, but we're all feeling too yucky. Sorry to be a downer! I'll post pics soon.

Tidbits:

When I saw B the other morning right when we woke up she said, "Hi, Jennifer!"

B tries to guess who I'm on the phone with after I hang up. She has been right about half of the time. Today I was talking to Attie and she said, "You talkin' to Beau Beau?" I said, "No, Attie." She said, "Ohhhh, Attie." She's obviously an eavesdropper and since I was talking about Lawson she must have thought she had a 50-50 shot.

S is rocking on her hands and knees. She may be crawling soon! She also gets on her fingers and toes and looks like she's trying to do a push up. She can go from lying down to sitting up pretty easily now.

B calls a fleur de lis a football on account of the Saints.

B points out everyone's ornament on the tree; she has decided which ornament belongs to each member of the family--mine is a Mr. Bingle ornament and Peter's is an LSU ornament.

B likes to put things next to each other (toys, food, books) then says they are friends.

Day O' Fun Downtown

Yesterday we had lots of adventures. We went to Gingerbread Junction at the Children's Museum, and made a beautiful gingerbread house. B ate about half of the candy decorations. After the decorating there was a story reading and cookies and milk. Then we caught the very end of the Canal St. parade--we saw a couple of bands and Santa Claus. Next we walked to Canal Place then to Maspero's for lunch. It's quite a walk from the Warehouse District to Maspero's, but the walk back wasn't too bad. We stopped at Harrah's Hotel and saw the huge gingerbread Louisiana house in the lobby then we went to Fulton Street and saw the 2:00 snowfall. Betsy was so excited, and jumped around and smiled the whole time. She loved it; we have to go back again. By the time we were done we were all exhausted, especially little B. Sadie isn't in a lot of pics, because she was crashed a lot of the time. We had a full day of fun.

This morning we went to Krispy Kreme. I had never been there, and it's true what I've always heard- that having hot glazed doughnuts from Krispy Kreme is awesome. Next we made a Sam's run. The rest of the day we did house stuff, and P bought lights for outside and put them up. B was so excited!
