Sadie is 3 Weeks Old!

Well, yesterday I had some help from my sisters so I wasn't alone. They entertained both girls and me. When Attie and then Katie came over she grabbed their hands and led them to Sadie's bassinet to show them her sister and said "Sadie!!!" She looks for Sadie any time she doesn't see her. Last night Betsy went to Jama and Pa's and I cooked for the first time since Sadie was born--my delicious Cooking Light fettucine alfredo--yum. Today Sam came over and Betsy and I ventured out to Target and Clearview Mall. Since Betsy is obsessed with Cinderella I bought her a Cinderella balloon and stickers. B had fun spending some alone time with Mommy. When we got home B went to sleep for nearly 3 hours and Sam played with Sadie while I attempted to nap; I think I slept for about 15 minutes, but I did veg out on the sofa downstairs for a while. Sam bathed both girls before she left and I was able to make a pasta salad for dinner. B is eating right now and Sadie is starting to fuss. I'll post pics later.

Betsy's latest sentences:

--Play animals--this means she wants me or anyone else to play with her Little People Zoo in her room
--While I nurse Sadie Betsy has said, "Mommy feed Sadie" and today she said "Sadie eat milk" and when I pump a bottle she says "Sadie milk."
--Any time Sadie makes a noise B says "Sadie crying (sounds like kying) wah wah wah"
--Gumbo brought her a baguette from La Boulangerie this morning and after he left she was eating it and said, "Gumbo love bread." Ain't that the truth!

It's 6pm, but Blogger says that it's not and won't let me post this right now so I'm going to say it's earlier...

Weekend Roundup

We have had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. It was great to have the first hospital-free and illness-free weekend with our little family. Our first outing on Thursday was fun, but the weather was so scary and we had to drive through standing water. On Friday morning Katie came over with PJs and stayed until B went down for her nap. Peter got home from work early and Marme and Gumbo stopped by to visit. Peter and B went to Whole Foods and picked up supper. Peter and I watched Cloverfield--entertaining, but also sort of annoying. On Saturday Peter worked on the apartment and I hung out with my girls. Marme and Tim watched the girls Saturday night while we went to Katy F's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding--Katy was a gorgeous bride-- and it was nice to get out of the house and socialize. Yesterday Samantha from Sweet Light Studio came over and took photos of Betsy, Sadie, and Lawson. The girls did great and I know the pics will be awesome. When B went down for her nap I went with Attie to meet Marme and Katie to do some shopping. The girls were good for their Daddy and slept almost the whole time I was gone. Last night Peter and I ordered pizza and watched some episodes of the first season of 'How I Met Your Mother'--we love that show. Betsy decided to wake up last night from 3 until 5--not fun--and as soon as I got B down Sadie woke up and stayed up till 6. Yikes! Today has been pretty laid back. We brought down the swing and Sadie is sleeping in it right now while Betsy is swimming in the new pool that she and P bought at Walmart this morning. Tomorrow is officially my first day all by myself. Wish me luck!

Betsy's surgery is scheduled for June 30. Please keep our B in your prayers.

Even Better

The last couple of days have been great. Sam has been a huge help. I don't know what I'll do when I don't have her to help me! Betsy absolutely loves her and they have so much fun together. Yesterday Betsy and I ventured out of the house and went to Attie's then took a long walk with Attie and Lawson. It was really HOT and that was the most I've moved in a few months so I was exhausted afterwards. But we had fun getting out and seeing the Carville girls! Sadie has been sleeping pretty well--she gets up 2 or 3 times a night. Betsy used to wake up 6 or 7 times a night so I feel pretty lucky. Attie is coming over this afternoon to watch Sadie while B and I meet playgroup at a secret location--it involves P's Father's Day present. Our little family is doing so much better than we were doing a few days ago.

Yesterday Betsy hugged Sadie a lot and smiled and kissed her feet. It was precious. I think she's starting to get used to her sissy.

While B was sick she wanted to watch Cinderella over and over again. She sang for the first time to the first song in the movie; she kept singing "Cinderellllllllla."

I'll post pics later.

Getting Better

Yesterday was pretty bad, but today B seems a lot better. She is hanging out with Sam while I tend to Sadie; I want to keep them separated for one more day. Some pics--one from S's first bath:

Nightmare Weekend

On Friday Sadie had her first appointment with Uncle Tommy and she has gained 8 ounces since leaving the hospital. She is now 6 lb, 12 oz. and she's grown a 1/2 inch--she's 19.5 inches long now. Marme came over again; it was our last day of a wonderful week with Marme. Marme and I took Sadie to the Parenting Center so I could get some much needed help from the lactation consultant there. Nursing Sadie has been rough, but hopefully things will keep getting better. On Friday night Peter and I ordered August Moon and he promised to wake up with Sadie so I pumped some bottles for him. I was so excited about the prospect of sleeping through the night. At 9:30 we heard Betsy crying. Peter went in her room and she had thrown up everywhere. My poor baby! The rest of the weekend was a blur of terrible diapers, crying (all three of us girls), not sleeping, keeping babies separated, and general misery. Betsy slept through the night last night, but she threw up again this morning. I hope it's because we gave her milk and it was just too much for her on an empty stomach. She cried from about 6 am until 8:45 am when Katie arrived to help me because Peter had to get to work. Attie is on her way over. Sorry for the downer post, but it has been a downer weekend.

Thanks so much to our family for helping us out this weekend (and all the time)--we really could not have made it through this weekend without y'all!!!

Sadie's First Week Home

Things are going well. Betsy is warming up to Sadie and likes to point at her and peek at her in her bassinet and say "Sadie!" all of the time. This week Attie, Lawsy, and Marme have been over to help us. It has been so great having them with us. Betsy is not too happy when I nurse Sadie and she'll climb onto the sofa next to us and say "Mommy, Mommy! Me!!!" The other day she climbed up next to me and smiled and said, "Two babies" and giggled. It was so sweet.

We went to Children's Hospital on Monday to have Sadie's blood drawn and her bilirubin levels were OK so no more hospital--yay!

Betsy likes to say "nope" in response to everyone question we ask her lately. I think nope is cuter than no.

Betsy had her first Orient Expressed photo shoot yesterday and although she was not happy at first she ended up doing a great job.

Here are some pics:

We're Home!!!

After nearly a week at Ochsner we are home and we couldn't be happier!!! Last night Sadie's bilirubin levels were up, but this morning they went down a lot so we were discharged. We have to bring her to get her blood drawn at Children's Hospital tomorrow and make sure her levels haven't risen again. It's so awesome to be home! Betsy will be home from Vacherie soon and I can't wait to hug and kiss her. Bets(and her aunts) made the most precious sign for us. I took a pic and I'll post it along with a bunch of other pics later today. Coming home with Sadie was the best Mother's Day present I could ask for!

A Bump In The Road

We're still at the hospital, because little Sadie has jaundice. We were able to stay on the post-partum floor until this morning; now we are on the pediatric floor. We're hoping that Sadie's bloodwork comes back good so we can go home. We miss Betsy so much!!! She is livin' it up in Vacherie right now. I want to thank our families for all of their help this week with Betsy. We are so lucky to have you all!!! I am having trouble signing in to Blogger at the hospital so Attie is posting this for me. I promise to post lots of pics once we get home. Sadie is getting cuter every day and she is such a sweet baby. I can't wait for everyone to meet her!

The Sisters Meet!

Betsy and Sadie met each other today. Betsy looked at her and pointed at her and said her name, but she was more interested in the coloring books we bought her. We tried to get a few shots of the whole family together, but in hindsight I realize that B was afraid of the hospital bed.

I accidentally made some pics small and some medium--I'm tired--sorry! And the time function is messed up so it's really 10:20 pm.
