Quick Update

Camp is going well. Swimming lessons started, and after two lessons where Sadie was hysterical we are switching from semi-private lessons at JCC to private lessons for just B. They both love the baby pool and I think we'll spend a lot of time out there. B and I have had tummy issues lately. Pics later!

First Day of Camp

The girls started Little Hearts Camp last week. Sadie was excited about going to "Betsy's school" and "pwaying wit Wossy (Lawson)," but she was not so excited once she got there. I stayed with her for about a half hour. She clung to me for most of the time, but eventually she started coloring with Betsy at the table. Sadie hasn't gotten in the baby pool yet, but she keeps saying that she goes in the pool. When I pick her up she says, "I did it!" Then Betsy will tell me, "She didn't get in. She just stands by the pool and stares at me." My poor little boo! I think she is enjoying Camp in general. Ms. Alpaugh called Peter today to tell him that she was having fun and laughing, which was a huge relief for us since Peter has left her crying hysterically the last two days. When I pick her up she runs to me, and Betsy still frowns when I pick her up because she wants to stay. Ms. Alpaugh said that the three girls play nicely together. Sadie and Lawson are going to be Little Hearts pros by the time Camp is over.

After a long first day of camp:

Betsy's Big Recital

Betsy did an amazing job at her first ballet recital. Everyone was so proud of her. Everyone came over afterwards for some delicious treats prepared by Aunt Attie and Momma Lady--thanks, ladies! I was so stressed about her recital for some reason. I guess I was nervous for my baby girl. She was a little apprehensive early in the morning, but then she got excited. It was a wonderful experience for all of us.

Rehearsal Day and Pigtail Girls

First, a HUGE thank you to my sisters for taking care of Betsy during the week between school and camp. The school calendar showed May 28th as the last day, but a few weeks before the end of May I found out that the last day for Little Hearts was May 21. Oops! Thanks for the help, sisters!!!

On the Friday of that week I got off early so the Carville girls, Betsy, and I went to OE to shop the bin sale early. I bought the girls some precious sweaters and nightgowns. Thanks for the preview, Bee!

Next, we had to get ready for the dress rehearsal for B's recital. Marme did a great job doing B's hair and makeup. The rehearsal went well, but afterwards B said, "that stage was really big" and she seemed a bit nervous--for the first time ever! She did a great job and made Marme and I so proud!

Party Time

A couple of weeks ago we had a big party weekend. The girls went to Lucy and Sinclair's precious 'Princess and the Frog' party at the Prytania then later B went to Evy's Pinkalicious party, and finally we went to Uncle Larry's house for a crawfish boil. We were wiped out from our day of fun. The next day Katie and Peter took the girls and Lawson to Peter's niece and nephew's birthday. After the party Gumbo and Bee took all three girls to see 'Shrek' at the Prytania. They had an awesome weekend!

Tubes

Sadie got tubes on May 14. She also had her adenoids taken out. My poor baby didn't do well on her hearing test, and she has been the ear infection queen over the past several months. She did well during the surgery, but she had a hard time once she was in recovery. She was kicking and waving her arms and screaming; it was awful to see. She seemed to have the strength of 1000 men as she ripped her IV out of her hand. She was very upset about the IV and about the pulse monitor on her toe. Momma Lady, Grandpa, and Katie came to the hospital for much needed moral support. Momma Lady and Grandpa took Betsy to Vacherie for the weekend so that we could focus on Sadie. Sadie didn't sleep great, and she was a little bit fussy. But she enjoyed doing her puzzles--she is the puzzle queen. She also liked all of the attention. She did ask for her sister the whole weekend.

It's been about 3.5 weeks since her surgery. Her hearing and speech have improved dramatically. We are thrilled with the results.

Right before surgery:

I took some pictures of her in front of the fridge, and she said, "No! I say cheese by da door!" As you all know we usually take posed pictures of the girls by the front door.

My Girls

My girls love polyester princess pajamas. I used to love them too when I was a little girl. Here, they are loving on the precious baby dolls from Hydie.

Lagniappe:

Recently B said, "I need a new bandaid" about 100000 times. I said, "I need a daughter who doesn't whine." She said, "Then just ask Jesus for one, sweetie." And then she made a little smirk. The "sweetie" thing kills me!

Sadie is a chatty Kathy these days. She'll say something she knows is cute/funny then she'll give this litte smirk. I've got to capture it on video. She also folds her arms and sticks out her lip when she's mad. She tries to make little jokes and cracks herself up constantly.

Mother's Day

I'm catching up.... We had a super fun Mother's Day. We walked to PJ's and met up with the Carvilles for coffee and muffins. Then we stopped at the new playground around the block from our house. It looks so good--huge climbing/sliding structure, swings, stage with seats, benches. The sisters and I went to Marme's for lunch in the afternoon, and visited with Marme and Hydie. Afterwards the girls and I went shopping. It was an awesome day!

This is kind of a weird pic, but Betsy looks EXACTLY like me when I was little in this pic.

The girls were dancing like crazy on the stage.
