Circus Time

We took Betsy to the Circus last night, and she absolutely loved it. We took her last summer, and she has been talking about it ever since. She saw a commercial for it and got so excited. We were thinking about bringing Sadie too, but we weren't sure how she would react to it. Betsy ate the entire time--lots of popcorn and animal crackers. She had a huge smile on her face, and she can't stop talking about it today.

Katie's birthday celebration continued on Thursday night at Irene's (fun and yum--thank you, Mom and Tim, for watching the girls!) and yesterday with Mom and Attie for lunch, shopping, and snoballs. Katie's birthday celebrations notoriously last for about a week.

Betsy finished camp on Friday. She had a wonderful Friday night with Gumbo and Bee. They went to see 'Up' then spent the night at Bee's. Thanks, Gumbo and Bee! On Saturday we went to Ryan's birthday party. Happy Birthday, Ryan!

B has a two week break before the next session of camp begins. So I'm trying to plan lots of fun things to do over the next couple of weeks. Today we went to Music and Betsy was really into it. We stayed for an hour and a half after and the girls played with Lawson, Julia, and Sarah. Sadie played so hard, and she was exhausted when she got home. Both girls are napping--I'm off to get some laundry done!

Happy Father's Day and Happy Birthday to Katie, Jama, and Bobby!

Happy Father's Day, Peter, Gumbo, Grandpa, and Pa! We had a great Father's Day. First we had breakfast with Gumbo, Bee, Katie, and the Carvilles. Then we later had dinner at Zea--Betsy wanted ribs. She loves ribs.

We have lots of birthdays this week--Happy Birthday, y'all! We celebrated Katie's, Jama's, and Bobby's birthdays on Tuesday night at Jama and Pa's. Although Bobby was in Australia, we felt like he was there because we skyped with him.

The last day of this session of camp is Friday. Then there is a two week break before the next session. Betsy has absolutely loved camp; she swims, paints, reads, and plays with old and new friends. Since Lawson is now in a big girl carseat I can pick Attie and Lawsy up after bringing B to camp, and we can have adventures. We took them to the Children's Museum last week, and they had a ball and it was nice and cool in there. The girls went wild in the new Little Winn Dixie.

Last weekend we went to dinner at Ninja and both girls liked their sushi and squid salad. Ninja has the coolest plates for their kid's dinners; they are little Japanese airplanes. After dinner we had gelato--as per the sign in Gelato Pazzo a small serving only has 4 grams of fat and 131 calories--I sort of can't believe it, because it's so yummy.

On Saturday Peter went fishing with Grandpa, and Attie and I took the girls to JCP to have pictures taken. The pictures came out pretty good, but usually the girls are hysterically crying yet the pics are great. This time the girls were great, but the pics were OK. On Saturday night we had dinner with a bunch of members of the Green family. We had such a great time catching up with everyone, and the kids had so much fun playing together.

It is so so so hot. Yesterday I walked B to camp, and by the time I got home I was dying. This morning I got up and went to the Park at 6. It was 83 degrees, but it was a lot cooler than it was yesterday at 9.

We had birthday PJ's with Katie, Attie, and Lawsy this morning. It was so much fun to hang out. The girls kept taking each other's water and fooling with everything and generally having a wonderful time. Love you, Katie--hope you had a nice dinner tonight!

Sadie highlights--she has started to climb on things (yikes); she says "uh oh" a lot (very cute); she has a tooth coming in (finally); she is still just about to walk; she loves dancing; she calls Betsy and Lawson "Betty;" she loves my Cooking Light fettucine alfredo; she loooooooooves milk; she says ball, book, brush, and happy.

Betsy highlights--B is not fond of the heat--she screams it's hot as soon as we get in the car then freaks out when I turn on the air and yells, "no air!" even when I explain every time that the air will cool us off; B is a great artist--much, much better than I was at her age; sometimes she'll ask me something and say, "Tell me da troof."

Roundup

Peter has been very busy lately. He got the apartment ready for our tenant to move in on Saturday--he patched a wall, sanded, painted the bathroom, spackled holes, and switched our door at the top of the stairs with the door in the apartment. Then he spent Saturday at a work function all day. Peter works so hard, and we appreciate everything that he does.

We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out and getting our study in order. This room was a catch all for junk, and now it is clean and organized--yay! On Saturday B spent the night at Gumbo's house--they went to dinner at Crazy Johnnie's, shopped at Walmart, fed the ducks, watched "Mickey & the Beanstalk," ate breakfast at I-Hop, and B learned to cast her first fishing pole (a Disney Princess one). They had quite a weekend--thank you, Gumbo! Sadie got some extra special attention, which she loved. On Saturday night Attie and I went to Tara's birthday night at w.i.n.o. and Rock N Sake. We had a blast--Happy Birthday, T! On Sunday we had planned to go to the festivals in the Quarter, but it was waaaaay too hot.

We just got back from dinner at Jama and Pa's. Tommy made chili--the girls loved it! This morning Sadie and I went to the Farmer's Market. Everything looked delicious; we bought blueberries, peaches, heirloom tomatoes (so yummy--B ate 4 mini tomatoes at lunch), cucumbers, bell peppers, baby eggplants, and creole tomatoes. Sadie and I stopped at Whole Foods to grab a couple of things I'll need to make gazpacho tomorrow. I love making gazpacho in the summer; I could eat it every day for lunch. Today was a big occasion for B--#2 in the potty (! She was so excited. She screamed, "Now we can go to the toy store!" I told her that when it happened in NOLA (she did in Vacherie when I was in NYC) she could pick out a toy. We went to Magic Box Toys and she looked at nearly every toy in the store, and she had a tough time making up her mind. She ended up picking a Melissa & Doug cookie set for her kitchen. When we got to Magic Box B said, "Good parkin' job, Mommy. High five!" and put up her hand. I am a terrible parker so I appreciated her compliment.

Little Camper and Puddin' Head

B is loving Camp. She likes to swim in the little pools. They have to wear Crocs in the pool so B has told me a bunch of times that "it's not a toe pool, Mommy, it's a Croc pool." They also eat popsicles, blow bubbles, and paint--what's not to like? We're working on potty training and today she pottied about 5 or so times--no wet pull ups! We switched to pull ups this week b/c she's not ready for panties yet. I'm hoping she keeps up her interest in the potty. Gumbo came by today and brought B an Elmo potty book and he brought me a book about potty training so hopefully we'll have this down soon!

Sadie took 4 steps yesterday. She likes to take 1 or 2 steps then leap/fall forward and reach for us. Lawsy is starting to take steps too. Soon enough we're going to be chasing these girls everywhere!

On Tuesday night we went to eat at Jama and Pa's--I really enjoy our weekly meals and so do the girls. B has so much fun getting hugs from everyone and playing with Lawsy, T, and Philip. Yesterday we went to Olivia's house for a playdate. B, Olivia, and Molly played in the sprinkler and ate hotdogs for dinner--B was in heaven. Sadie played with Molly's little brother and was so exhausted when we got home that she didn't wake up when I changed her into her pajamas. Today Gumbo brought the girls to OE to try on more samples. Katie and I went to Walgreens and ran into Attie and Lawson. We went to PJ's next door and I think Lawsy liked having all 3 of us to herself. She smiled so big the whole time. She also kept screaming "Attie!!!" while Attie was fixing her coffee.

Tomorrow is my last day of Boot Camp--yippeeeeee! It has been good for me, but totally and completely exhausting. I'll be happy when I can sleep past 5.
