Pics

Roundup

I have literally been working on a blog post for 1.5 hours. I have been typing and typing. Peter has been asking what I'm doing. It is gone. It was automatically saving and I manually saved it several times. I got to the end and pressed publish and it told me to sign in. I couldn't go back. I am so frustrated, and I'm about to cry. I had a bunch of little notes to remind me what we have been up to, and I just erased them all. I hate Blogger. It's 11:30 and I was about to go to bed. I was so proud of myself for blogging about the girls' latest funny moments, and our wonderful Easter. I am so mad. Well, here goes...

Happy Easter everyone!

Sadie is 11 months old. She gets prettier and smarter everyday. She has lots of new tricks. She says "ta daaaaaaaaaa," "nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnno," and "mine." She learned all of these from her big sister. She loves to copy everything B does. S loves to eat and squeals when I pull out her snack trap full of baby goldfish or cheerios. S crawls up to me, climbs up my legs till she's standing then lifts her arms up for me to pick her up. I have started to wean Sadie, and it's going OK. She loves water, but she does not like milk or formula. I have cut out her after lunch feeding so I'm trying to get her to drink something besides water after lunch, but she is not having any of it. B is a milk fiend so S is bound to start liking it soon.

B has been saying all sorts of funny things. She told Grandpa the other day, "you got a clock on your brayfit (bracelet)"--she was referring to his watch. When I told her to share a toy with B the other day she said, "Don't worry about Sadie, Mommy"--which is what I tell her when she incessantly tattles on Sadie. B loves to talk, sing, and/or dance all of the time. If I ask her to keep it down she'll say, "I'm singing!" or "I'm talking!" B uses her imagination so much; she constantly tells me that "we have to hurry" because we are being chased by something or we are late for something. She gave everyone at the breakfast table this morning an imaginary piece of candy. She gives me imaginary food all of the time then says, "you like it, Mommy? It's good?"

Last weekend B went to dinner at Gumbo's house. She ate cheese toastites and visited the ducks Gumbo released at the park near his house. On Saturday morning I had a much needed massage. I met the sisters and babies at Marme's for a birthday breakfast. The girls were glad to be able to play with their Marme! Marme is starting to feel better--I am so happy! Then the girls and I picked Scarlet up from her hotel then went to the house and vegged while the girls napped. It was so nice to just hang out and talk and not really do anything. That night Scarlet, Julie, and I went to Iris for dinner--the food was fabulous and we had an amazing time. The new restaurant looks great; I'm so excited for Laurie! After dinner we went to Pat O's because Scarlet had never been there before. We had a great time and there was really good people watching. The next morning the girls and I went to La Boulangerie with Scar, Jules, and baby James for breakfast. Then Scarlet left. We had such a nice visit, and we miss her already. On Sunday afternoon B and I went to Remy F's 4th birthday party at Lucky You. B was the youngest kid there, but she held her own while making cotton candy and hitting the pinata.

On Monday we went to B's Easter Egg Hunt at school. B had fun running around with her friends, and Sadie played in the grass with the other little brothers and sisters. After the hunt we went to Daneel Park with Molly, Dawn, and baby Adam. When we got home Gumbo met us and took us to Haase's to pick out the girls' Easter shoes. The shoes are precious--thanks, Gumbo! B woke up in the middle of the night Monday with a fever and runny nose. She was finally better for 3 or so whole days! We stayed in on Tuesday, and luckily she was well by Wednesday. She did miss Tuesday dinner at Jama's though and she wasn't too happy about it. On Wednesday Attie, Lawsy, Sadie, and I went for a walk in the Park then to PJ's. The girls go crazy when they see their PJ's muffin--they screech and wave their arms. On Wednesday afternoon we went to the Zoo with Attie and Lawson; we are taking advantage of hitting the Zoo as much as possible before it gets unbearably hot. On Thursday we walked to PJ's again with Attie and Lawsy then B played at Katie's for a bit. On Thursday afternoon we went to playgroup at Jane's. The kids hunted for Easter eggs and B played monsters with the boys because two of the girls weren't there. She really liked the drama involved and ran around squealing. I am so happy I have my playgroup. B is so close with her playgroup pals, and Sadie has inherited a bunch of friends her age (and we have one more coming this week and another in August--then our playgroup will have a whopping 14 kids in it!). On Thursday night we went to Rocky's for dinner then to Creole Creamery for ice cream. The girls were good, and B loved her ice cream cone. She had never had one before, and she didn't quite get that she could eat the cone. When I told her to take a bite of it she looked at me funny. She finally took a bite of the top then smiled and bit off the bottom of the cone! Oops!

On Friday Grandpa came in town to help P build a wall in the garage. We are creating a utility room in the garage--yay! Grandpa also came in town earlier in the week to help P resod the backyard--thanks a bunch, Grandpa! On Friday night the Carvilles had us over for dinner and egg dyeing. Gumbo and Bee were the dyeing champs and taught us lots of tricks. On Saturday we went to the annual Babin Easter Crawfish Boil at Gumbo's. The kids had a blast hunting for chocolate eggs, eating crawfish (B even sucked a few heads!), and playing together.

We had a wonderful Easter. The girls were very excited about everything the Easter Bunny brought them. The Carvilles had a lovely breakfast at their house--lots of yummy food, great gifts, and a crazy Easter egg hunt for the Babin sisters. After breakfast we went to Momma Lady and Grandpa's house--yummy food, great gifts, egg dyeing, and a visit from the Easter Bunny. B loved him and held his hand, hugged him, and sat in his lap. She told me that he was "not scary" then said, "I don't like da Easta Bunny at da Mall. I don't want to sit in his lap."

I am now really tired and full of candy. I'm going to post a few pics from last week then I'll upload Easter pics tomorrow.

Good night!

Happy Birthday, Marme!

Marme's birthday is tomorrow. She is so special to us, and it's been so hard for us to see her so sick for so long. We're hoping that she is all better soon. Love you!

The girls both have ear infections so it's been a slow week. I hurt my neck too so we have been a mess. I think that we are all better now. The girls are eating breakfast, and I'm about to get everyone dressed. Last week we went to Music, had the girls' pics taken at JCP, went to our playgroup Easter party, and I went to dinner with Katie A. and baby Jonah (he is so adorable). Last weekend we went to the Arts Market then Peter and I went on a date on Saturday night. On Sunday we played in the backyard, because it was so nice. We went to see Uncle Tommy on Monday. They had colds for about a week, but they just weren't acting right so I brought them in. On Tuesday we went to Covington for an OE photo shoot. S still wasn't feeling well and she was not happy to change clothes and have her picture taken. B hammed it up. On Wednesday after school we picked Scarlet up from the airport then she treated us to a yummy lunch. She helped me do some errands with the girls. We are so happy to have her in town and we can't wait till she spends the night with us on Saturday!

B and I have been having issues with her eating--or refusal to eat. Yesterday I made her lunch, including some marinated chicken. She wanted "clean chicken"--which I guess meant without the marinade on it so I washed it off. Then I brought it back and she said "now it's meat. it's not chicken!!!" She refused to eat it then I made her some "different chicken" and she didn't eat a bite. I'm over it!

S is reaching for us when she wants to be picked up. She is also picking up the phone and saying "ullo." S is so close to walking. She'll jump from the sofa or chair to us. S loooooves Cheerios. If she's upset I'll grab the box or her snack trap and she'll instantly brighten up. S is perfecting her wave and her "bye bye." She is a clapping pro.

B is saying and doing the funniest things. The other day Bee made a deal with B and asked her to shake on it--so B shook her little booty and started dancing. I also have made the mistake of telling her to spit it out when she is taking a while to tell me something--she spit all over the place. Oops.

Pics later.

You're My Best Friend Forever and After

That's what Betsy said to Sadie tonight before she went to bed. I think she was combining "forever and ever" and "happily ever after." It was the sweetest thing I've ever heard her say. After she said it she patted Sadie on the head and said, "she's so cute."

Last Wednesday we celebrated Lawson's bday again with pizza and cake. Lawson has become a huge cake fan, just like her cousin Betsy. On Thursday we went to Gumbo's office to have our teeth cleaned. B was not happy, but once she was finished she was all smiles. In the afternoon we met playgroup at a park. It has been so wonderful outside, and Thursday evening it was so nice that we stayed at the park till 6:30 then the girls and I picked up dinner at Whole Foods; P was at a crawfish boil. On Friday Attie and I strolled with the babies to PJ's. The babies really love their muffins. Gumbo stopped by after work and took the girls to feed the ducks. On Friday night we ordered from Kyoto, and B was excited about her "squish" (squid) salad, and she's getting pretty good at using chopsticks. Tonight she ate the last of her squid, and after I gave it to her she said, "Mommy, I need chopsticks!" Oh, brother.

Poor B has a little cold; I hope Sadie doesn't get it. B was up a lot Friday night, but she partied it up over the weekend. On Saturday B and I got our hair cut at Charlotte's. B has a precious bob, and I got some more layers. P took the kids to the park while I went to get a manicure and pedicure. On Saturday afternoon we went to a crawfish boil at Tim and Jane's house in BR. We got to visit with Hal, the Stones, and Judson, Gina, and precious little Campbell whom we had never met. B loved playing with Camille and Andrew, and Sadie loved watched them play. This morning P took the girls to the Zoo; I stayed home because my allergies were outrageous. This season is really bad for me. Gumbo and Bee came by this afternoon; Bee just got back from Asia last night--we missed her! Attie and I did a couple of errands this evening, and now the girls are in bed and I'm about to go to bed. Pics later!

Happy Birthday, Lawson!

Happy Birthday to my adorable, smart, sweet niece! She is like a sister to my girls and when I see her and she reaches up her arms to me it makes me feel so good. Love you, Lawsy Boo!!!

We celebrated Lawsy's birthday last night at Jama and Pa's house with gumbo and a yummy cake. This morning Sadie and I stopped by to see her and she and Sadie climbed all over each other and played and had a good ole time.

Yesterday we met up with Cab, Will, and Ferriday Rose at the Aquarium then we went to Maspero's for lunch. We had so much fun hanging out with them; it had been way too long!

Weekend Roundup

Marme is doing better, but not great. We went over nearly every day last week, and she is just ready to feel like her old self again. Betsy had missed Marme so much, and said, "Marme is in da hospital. Tim is taking care of her" every day, and she would have the saddest little expression on her face when she said it.

Sadie said her first word last week------baby. She says it over and over again--very cute. I guess she says it because I call her 'baby' all day long. She can stand for several seconds on her own. She is 10.5 months old already. Wow.

Betsy had her second nightmare last week, and woke up screaming and told Peter that "Clifford the dog was chasing me." I guess they read Clifford books at school, because she watched the show once about a year ago here.

Last Tuesday we went to dinner at Jama and Pa's. Sadie loved being passed around--as long as she could see her Mama. This weekend was pretty gross so we mostly stayed home. On Friday night we went to eat at Serrano's, and Sadie ate everything in sight. Sadie eats waaaaay more than B. On Saturday we missed Jessie's St. Patrick's Day party, and we were totally bummed. It was just so rainy, and I didn't want the girls to get sick. We ended up eating Guy's poboys and hanging out downstairs. We hung out downstairs a lot yesterday too. I am so happy we have that space, and I'm so thankful to all of the folks who helped make it happen. Yesterday we went to Sam's then Gumbo took B and Lawson to the Zoo in the afternoon (S was asleep).

This morning Sadie and I walked in the Park. It was overcast and damp, but no rain. I hear the rain right now though and I have to leave in a bit to pick up B. Sadie has been asleep for an hour. We think she had a nightmare last night, because she woke up screaming and then kept nodding off, but would wake up screaming. We were up with her for over an hour so I hope she takes a good nap this afternoon, because Mama is tired.

Happy Early Birthday to my precious niece, Lawson!!! I can't believe you are already a year old, my boo. I love you so much.

Here are some pics. B and I made St. Patrick's Day cookies last week. She thinks St. Patrick's Day is her cousin Patrick's birthday, and I think she's confused about it since she just went to his birthday party a few weeks ago.
